I am thinking of all the people who are spending Christmas alone,
whether due to health reasons or alienation from family and loved ones.
My thoughts are with you.

(2,000 posts)Or with select people, rather than with family due to obligations.
Personally, I was getting together with a group of 5 vaxed and boosted ladies, but there was a possible covid exposure for 3 of them. I was relieved it was cancelled, except the one not isolating doesn't want to be alone so I'm going there later for supper, which she's cooking.
I'd be happier alone, but will go so she won't be alone. And the food should be fabulous!
When I thought it was cancelled I got a nice steak to cook, but I'll have that tomorrow.
Enjoy the day!
I am alone this year only by happenstance but do not feel lonely by any means.
Merry Christmas.

Yup, it would have been a very quiet morning had it not been for the massive amounts of rain we got this morning, pounding on the windows. Just finished with my UBER EATS App and ordered some baked goods from a CHINESE BAKERY for some cookies, apple fritters, and some TARO MILK TEA drinks.

(46,970 posts)These 2 covid years made it all worse. Not sure what to do. Closest relative in hospital (non-covid). But I've just got a feeling something is much worse than I've been told. Alone? Do I need the stress?

(7,334 posts)But I do remember a few Christmas Days I was all alone.
One I spent in my tiny but warm Rocky Mountain cabin (no plumbing, wood cook stove etc.)at 8000 feet listening to The Denver Nuggets play basketball on the radio.
Part of the day I spent hauling and chopping firewood, and moving the outhouse over to hole #2 since I was getting the frozen finger of feces poked in my nether regions every time I used it. (You probably had to have lived at 8000 ft in the dead of an 8000 ft RM winter to understand what I am talking about. )
Admit I felt lonesome for a just a bit but since I am an introvert socially it didn't really faze me. Kept busy, read a book, and cooked myself some festive red beans and rice for dinner.

(14,887 posts)postponed until Thursday, I'm a little under the weather and the grand kids are not vaccinated yet. We have tried on past Christmas days. The kids, after spending the day with their mother, are tired and grumpy, buzzing from too much sugar. By the time I would see them, it was chaos. This year we are spreading it out (Plus I've hidden a couple of gifts I still haven't found.)

(24,790 posts)Nothing wrong with spending time with my favorite person on the planet. I've been alone on holidays a number of times, and it doesn't really bother me. Merry Christmas to all!

(2,799 posts)I am more than six months past my first two CoVid shots and can't get an appointment before January 16th. Also, we are supposed to get snow, starting later today. Snow is unusual here, and too many people don't know how to drive safely in it. So, I am staying home with my cat. Good times, with hope for a better future for us all.

(24,790 posts)The kids asked us to dog-sit overnight. So now we have five little dogs terrorizing the house. Two Maltese/Pomeranians, two Maltese Yorkies, (They are siblings one is ours on is theirs) And our Poodle/Terrier mix. Fun times. We will be warm in bed tonight.
