Former trooper guilty of taking $70K steps down from school board

PLATTE—A former Highway Patrol trooper has resigned from an area school board following his admission of taking nearly $70,000 in evidence money during his time in law enforcement.

The Platte-Geddes School Board accepted the resignation Thursday of Brian Biehl, 48, of Platte, during a special meeting in Platte. Biehl previously served as board president before stepping down from that position on Feb. 13.

At the time, Biehl expressed an intention to remain on the board, but several community members spoke up during the Feb. 13 board meeting asking for his resignation from the board entirely. He was not present at Thursday's meeting.

"Please (accept) this as my formal resignation from the Platte/Geddes School Board," Biehl said in an email addressed to the other board members and the superintendent written Sunday. "I would like to wish all of you good luck and ask that you keep up the good work. Thank you."
