333 koi streamers at Tokyo Tower

May 5 is Children's Day in Japan, and one of the traditional events is koinobori, that is. flying steamers shaped like koi fish. This year, the Tokyo Tower grounds were festooned with 333 colorful koi streamers, one for each meter of the tower's height. It was quite a sight to behold

determined young man who would do well in his studies and get a good job. Hinamatsuri is Girl's Day and is celebrated on March 3rd.

The English name is a direct translation, Children's Day, and the holiday has been for both boys and girls since 1948.
