2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI think we have to get beyond this
Unless there's a miracle, Donald Trump is our next president. In the best case, he'll be an awful Republican who gets a lot of their initiatives implemented and we will have to reverse them in the next elections. In the worst case, he's some sort of lunatic who destabilizes the nation and the world with xenophobic and extra-judicial acts made constitutional by a radical Supreme Court. So, we have to get organized. I think it's critical that anyone who opposes Donald Trump get active in something if they are not already. I think if the worst case arises, whatever group we're involved in, whether it's the Democrats, Greens, environmental groups, civil and human rights groups, and so on will come together as a united front. It will be so important we have strength in numbers to push representatives into action and to bring our objections loudly into the public arena. I think we need to begin networking now. So far, in our history, liberal and progressive thinking people have always prevailed, but sometimes it's not pretty. Let's hope for the best, but let's be ready.

(2,593 posts)Every time I think I've accepted it, the idiot does something really stupid again and I just go back into my protective shell.
The worst part is his having a majority in Congress to help him destroy all the progress made under President Obama. I'm still really angry and in total disbelief that so many are so stupid.

(7 posts)I think both are looking for money and not bodies though ... I want to work on taking back the Red states! Unfortunately I don't want to have to move to one but PA is close by.
But I'm having some trouble with this one ... " I WILL avoid demonizing people who dont agree with me about this election, recognizing that its as wrong to stereotype Trump supporters as anybody else. " I don't have a need to stereotype them. I am just giving them all of the blame and most of my anger.
