Maybe we should tap into the "non-politician" pool in 2020 ourselves, someone like Mark Cuban

who is smart, rich, likeable and who would destroy someone like Trump.

If our best political people can't beat a disgusting sociopath like Donald Trump, then maybe we need to start thinking outside the box as well. This isn't the first time either. We lost twice in the '80s to a grade B movie actor/idiot named Ronald Reagan.

Dec 2016
Billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has made a sharp reverse, from being an attack dog for the Democrats to giving Donald Trump his full-throated endorsement.

“Donald Trump is our No. 1 draft pick,” Cuban told CNBC Wednesday. Sticking with the basketball metaphor, he explained: “He’s who we put our hopes and dream with. Now it is easier because we haven’t played a game yet. No reason to rush to judgment or come to any conclusions now. Let’s see what happens starting January 21st and we’ll go from there. I hope he’s a superstar.”

truly believes, because hey, he's a fucking billionaire, that the mechanisms of capitalism work for people. He is constantly at odds with any position that questions that wisdom, or the mighty benevolent role of corporations in creating jobs.

I have no idea why you would want him. He may fit right into a DLC vision of our party, but I think we should do better.

If a non-politician billionaire is what it takes to win elections, if it means the difference between winning and losing, I'd want him or someone like him, yes.

This is like a company announces its earnings are up 8 % and its stock goes down because the expectation was they would be up 12 %.

Not what we thought, but hardly a disaster.

Since I know of no one qualified to be President in the Democratic Party right now matching that description, and Justin Trudeau is planning on remaining in Canada for the foreseeable future, I'd settle for someone experienced, eminently qualified, and who could handle the job.

Oops. We just tried that.

In that case, I'd try, in the little time we have left, to miraculously do what we have been neglecting since 2002. That, in short, would be to implement impenetrable barriers to voter disenfranchisement nationally. Barring that, anyone short of Obama charisma will be again defeated--not by the voters, but by those who count the votes. Welcome to Stalin's Soviet States of America. Dissenting voices will be treated as was Jerzy Popiełuszko. Don't think so? Trump-loving goons are doing it already, and all over the nation.

one who just happens to be a demented sociopath, so if that's what it takes to win in today's crazy game of politics, then why not consider playing that game ourselves, only play it with someone who actually has empathy for other people like Cuban does. I'm not saying we need to just consider Cuban, but if we need to play that game, then somebody like him.

He may not want to, but I was hoping we could sell it to him as a small, part-time job. Basically all he'd have to do is go to Austin a couple of times a year and just veto everything that came across his desk.

That's it.

But the president doesn't the power to un-regulate anything he wants.

Cuban may come off crass and yes, he is a billionaire, but look at his background. Working class union parents from Pittsburgh, he worked every job from paper boy to bar tender to owner of an NBA championship team. I think he would actually make a good president based on his life experiences and his obviously intense work ethic. He didn't go to harvard or yale law school, he didn't inherit hundreds of millions of dollars like trump, he came from nothing. If he has a few libertarian leanings, well, its better than a full blown moron like the donald. Maybe Cuban would push for legalized marijuana or something else those scary libertarian types talk about

When Cuban was asked by the press about the possibility of losing some Mavericks fans because of his attempts to ensure that Trump didn't win the presidency, Cuban said he'd "rather go broke than see Trump win the election."

He also said, "When it’s all said and done, I’d rather lose every penny than have Trump as president because I care more about the future of my family, my children than I do about my pocketbook. And so if it means we play to empty arenas, I’m down with that."

"Maybe I pick up some fans," he continued. "Maybe I lose some fans. I don’t know. I’ve heard it from both. I’ve had people say, 'There’s no way I can support you. I won’t go to another Mavs game.' And I’ve had people say, 'You know what? We’re buying Mavs tickets.'"
