2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumJust kind of musing here, but it's driving Trump voters NUTS that they can't enjoy their victory.
Everywhere I turn, from Facebook to comments sections on news sites, they're ranting and rehashing all their anti-Hillary, anti-Obama nonsense. These are the sorest winners I've ever seen. The mainstream news media keeps bringing up uncomfortable stories about Trumps staffing picks, his financial dealings, the Russian influence, mixed support from Republicans. And the entertainment media like SNL isn't allowing him any kind of typical honeymoon period (they went a lot easier on Dubya at this point). Normalizing Trump isn't taking.
It just seems weird that so many Trump voters are unable to sit back and say 'hey, we won.' Victory isn't enough as long as the rest of us don't fall in line. Think maybe they're trying to convince themselves of something?

If it was just them, I'd be laughing my ass off. Unfortunately, I have to live on the same planet.
His supporters will turn on him just as soon as he 'fixes' Social Security and 'phases out' Medicare. They won't have enough coming in to from Social Security to pay for their Ryancare insurance premiums.

(22,976 posts)...it's not Mexicans, it's Muslims. If it's not Muslims, it's liberals. If it's not liberals... sorry, it's ALWAYS liberals...with their gun-grabbing ways and those dad-blasted universities and colleges that teach all that liberalism. There are gay wedding cakes and sacred zygotes under attack. And there's always a war on Christmas, too. Don't forget the drive-by media leftist-socialist-communist-agenda and hom-O-sexual agenda and the left-wing agenda and last summer's invasion of Texas by Obummer and his use of actual facts. LIBS have the gall to use real facts!!1! Unfair! Plus gun-grabbing since 1963. Plus Benghazzzzzzi! Lock somebody, anybody up! Hail Trump!
But now, their savior's shady dealings are bubbling up, there are conflicts of interest and Jesus it should be so bad.
It's not easy being a wingnut, they have to crank up the outrage hourly. They haven't had a happy day since... whenever. Everyone and everything is suspicious, dangerous, and trampling on their U.S.S. (sic) Constitution which only applies to white Christians.

(24,920 posts)That's not who we are. Cons are judging us by themselves yet again!
Just because they're right-wing authoritarians who fall in line behind some untrustworthy asshole doesn't mean we should have to, too. This is something that won't penetrate their thick skulls.

(22,517 posts)they are going out of their way to call liberals "crybabies" and saying Hillary is a criminal still. I think they had this bizarre fantasy that Trump was going to be bowed down to and that they would be there beside him as part of the "King's court".

(797 posts)To the emotion of hate, Hillary was a wonderful target for that need ,now that Hillary is no longer a player they cant stop bashing her.
They've been whining and belly aching for 8 years now ,its time for them to show us Dems how its done as they have all the power, i suspect they'll make a mess of it like they always do

(1,132 posts)Partisan hacks who somehow convinced themselves that Hillary was worse, so they held their nose and voted for the imbecile.
Trump got the lowest percentage of the GOP primary vote in 40 years, and there was a significant Never Trump movement at one point, so he was hardly a universally beloved figure, even among conservatives. He got their votes because they're partisan idiots.

Did they think that no one would remember his divide and conquer campaign?
Did they think that no one would question his collusion with Russia to hack Democratic politicians?
Did they think that everyone would be welcoming even though he lost the election by more than 3 Million votes?
LOL the most he gets is 2 years and it will be dog fights for both of them, he resigns in disgrace by year 2.

Their con-man pathelogical narcissist clod is destroying the country already and the oath hasn't even been taken.

I never, in my worst nightmare thought I would see such idiocy, ignorance, arrogance and hate destroy my country so damned fast and potentially, completely.

(30,602 posts)I thought they would be doing the happy dance and enjoying their victory. Instead they act more like they lost, such sore winners I've never seen before either. My advice to them would be enjoy your victory, be happy you won because soon you'll have lots of reasons to be angry and to be crying.
