I know this doesn't mean shit

But it's interesting - not the right word, but the right one escapes me at the moment - that conservative commentators and individuals are increasingly coming out with striking criticisms - contempt, even - for trump.

What's troubling, though, is that these people will continue to describe themselves as conservative and my bet is the next time around they will support a RW candidate. And, trust me, we are no longer looking at future conservative or center right candidates; we are looking at RW extremists.

Look at the Weekly Standard. People like Jonah Goldberg, Charles Krauthammer, etc. Their disdain for him wasn't only because he is a vulgar lunatic, but because he isn't really a conservative. Up until the last few years, he called himself a Democrat, was pro-choice, and held lots of positions that were and are anathema to true conservatives.

Of course they still call themselves conservatives, because they are. And of course they will support candidates that embrace their own political views.
