2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBirtherism is rooted in racism.
As is the denial of white privilege and structural racism. As is anti-Muslim sentiment (it's not purely a matter of Christian supremacy). As is the opposition to *certain* immigrants.
Opposition to feminism is rooted in sexism. As is opposition to equal pay for women.
Opposition to LGBTQ rights is rooted in heterosexism.
So, please stop saying that only a fraction of Trump supporters (or Republicans more generally) are bigots. It's embarrassing.

(122 posts)As much as we like to point fingers at the other side for "false news" we do the same thing. When you control for type of job, education, and years of work, the wage gap almost disappears completely.

*Note: 18% are unsure if Obama was born in the US
And yet I keep seeing posts indicating that only a fraction of Trump supporters are bigots. As if not wearing a white robe with pointy hat or not having a swastika tattoo is all it takes to not be a racist.
Not to mention the people who say it's racist to point out racism. Good grief.
