2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo, have we all finally agreed that the election was infiltrated by Russians and the FBI
and that is why Trump is PEEOTUS?
and that it wasn't because democrats ignored white people.

I think This is why they didn't let Garland have a hearing even though from the polls it looked like Hillary would win; they knew it was in the bag. It wasn't just Russian collusion; there was enough other shenanigans going on even without that to seriously impact the election. They have stolen three out of the past five presidential elections.

Humans are tribal, that's a fact not in dispute
That doesn't mean we let tribalism KingCon pushes divide us but to claim "it shouldn't" or "it doesn't" matter is denying reality to a degree no?

(67,782 posts)...was comfortably ahead in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, basically even in Florida and not far behind in Ohio. Then in the space of about an hour the tallies in all five states flipped to put Don of Orange ahead in all of them. It didn't take long and the votes were "changed" (buggered up) before anyone knew what was happening.

(6,991 posts)Excellent post
As you rightfully said, Hillary WAS ahead in many of these states, and I believe later on in the evening one newspaper in Michigan called it FOR Hillary, and then there was NOTHING from that newspaper for the rest of the evening. Same goes for the other states you rightfully speak of where her leads just disappeared out of nowhere. You mean ALL of the pollsters were wrong? The Los Angeles Times poll got it right, given how ridiculous their voter methodology was?
GOP voter suppression/voter disenfranchisement, cross-checking, purging huge Democratic data bases and I'm pretty sure the ruskies somehow decreased and increased "just enough" votes across a few "specific" states of a cyber-hacking nature to give that orange anus the presidency.
Yes, something definitely went WRONG on election night, just as it did with that coordinated effort in Ohio in 2004 between Kenneth Blackwell & Diebold.

I understand your opinion that it was the sole reason, but there just isn't enough evidence to say those actions, and only those actions, led to the GE loss.

at him, but even our own party wont try, and it will still have had little to do with his win.
But American media, from television, to internet to talk radio did do so. Why does anybody believe that some fake news and some Wikileaks have the power to do this without the preponderance of consent evidenced in our own corporate messaging?
In an alternate universe where we have an actual fourth estate, there is no way 46 percent of the voting public votes in a man like Trump. For that matter, there's no way that only 56 percent of eligible voters vote, due to condoned abdication, disaffection, voter purging, election tampering, etc... You want to hand wring about a couple percent of the vote(which if stolen was still only made possible by our media here), that's fine, but that is missing the big con again.
What's sad is that this is the story Democrats want to focus on. Don't get me wrong. We should damage Trump where we can and make him look illegitimate. He is by my own metric. I'm down for that, so it's not like I don't appreciate hanging Putin's loving arms around his neck, even if all we get out of it is to make the Don look shitty, but i'm not particularly okay with our leaders helping to distract us from the shit that just lost them--US-- another election, and is going to continue to lose us elections until we start fighting back. I have a very real fear that even when we lose, our leadership would rather us not see behind the curtain to the mechanisms that delivered that loss, and that's pretty disheartening.

(27,835 posts)There are still those who believe these obstacles were mere inconveniences that the "right candidate" would have overcome, and gone on to a landslide victory.
They'll never stop autopsying the dead horse, trying to determine why it didn't cross the finish-line despite being shot-at by Russian snipers, and having its legs broken by Comey as it rounded the last curve.

Comey's statement was certainly a big impact that sealed the deal for many people, who were still trying to make up their minds.
It is not because democrats ignored white people.
Almost 63 MILLION people voted for trump - for whatever reasons. Not going to be easy to just poo poo his support for nefarious reasons alone.
