Hello from OccupyKochTown - Fight Tar Sands in collaboration with Sierra Club 2/17-19/12 pt.2

P.S. Casual remarks from Wichitans along the route of Saturday's march indicate that they do not know the Koch bro's Tar Sands Pipeline project is for FOREIGN oil on its way to ASIAN markets, nor that it is estimated to raise the price of a barrel of oil by $3.00.

Activism is what it's all about. Only the second day and this group is already rocking.

That stuff can be harmful to your skin.

Gotta wash it off with turpentine. Funny thing is turpentine is allegedly carcinogenic but is much less toxic than oil or mineral spirits.

The guy with a pink occupy fist? Definitely a brony.

Is this (Occupy Wichita) a new occupy?

If so, congratulations on the huge turnout and street theater!!!

a brony??

Yes it's OccupyWichita, hosting a total of 22 cities comprised of Occupies KC, KU, Tulsa, and Central Oklahoma, and Sierrans.

I think OccupyWichita is only about a month younger than OccupyKC and we started in September last year.

Right on about the street theater!! There was also a free poet, from OccupyKU, who riffed constantly on tree-currency, a people's art-based script, that he used to illustrate points about money and value, a BIG, outrageous looking guy, with a huge voice, spouting his own original, clever and really quite good poetry about money and economics. He. was. AWESOME. Spontaneously played a huge role in front of Koch HQ, with counter demonstrators, and a few dozen police, our tree poet introduced just the right degree of anarchy into the situation to make a very important, and educative, point about Occupy autonomy.

Occupy should start a local currency project, similar to Ithaca Hours which supports small businesses and homespun occupations.

With so many Occupy's across the nation, it might actually work (unlike most.) I figure a working group of three people in every town could make it happen...

Those people are wonderful. Thank you for the photos.

It's interesting that most people are not fully aware of what this is about. Do you think it would be good idea to make up a pamphlet explaining the whole thing, and leave them at supermarkets etc? The media won't explain it, so I guess we have to be our own media.

Anyhow, thank you for the pics,

you know that some of the eminent domain that's being used to acquire pipeline real-estate is eminent domain that is being used by a PRIVATE corporation? I didn't think such a thing was possible. Thought it HAD to be government that has that kind of power to seize real estate. But apparently in this situation Trans Canada, a private foreign corporation, is empowered to use eminent domain. WTF!!!

It is a "center-right" effort to corporatize the Constitution... all the "moderates" on the Supreme Court now vote for stuff like this.
