Occupy Wall Street empowering seniors (My apologies to Seniors in advance)

In OWS, Seniors Are Accepted and Empowered
by Silvio Laccetti

“The times, they are a-changing.” In the last great outpouring of civic protest during the ‘60s and early ‘70s, participants consisted almost entirely of young people. The rebel mantra was “Don’t trust anyone over 30!”

Not so today with Occupy Wall Street. This I can affirm from letters from my correspondents and by my attendance at the very recent OWS-Jersey City teach-in at St. Peter’s College.

--------

Consider some examples of senior involvement:

• The “Wild Old Women”, in sympathy with OWS aims, closed down a Bank of America branch in the San Francisco area. Wild women with walkers and wheelchairs were protesting against the bank’s eviction and foreclosure policies.

• A writer from Providence, R.I. tells me of a parade stopping each time one 80-plus-year-old participant needed a break.

• In New Jersey, there has been a silent flowering of senior creativity and and participation in OWS events which should produce a full bloom of proactivity this springtime.

Proof that the mainstream media is a tool for the PTB is that they show young freaky-looking types, and black bloc types, but very seldom do they show seniors. They know that seniors vote, contribute to political campaigns, have purchasing power, and although they might move a little slower they tend to move together.

I agree that the national media has failed to cover the broad range of those turning out, including seniors.

will come when the headquarters of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and Pox get surrounded by protesters who refuse to let the people inside go home without being harassed. The on air staffs and management need to be ridiculed and shamed until they present an honest account of the news.
All we get now is propaganda, the blatant Pox News and the more subtle from the other outlets. Our media has gone from the Fourth Estate to a Fifth Column.
