Occupy Underground
Related: About this forumWe are going to need "OCCUPY THE VOTE" encampments
i.e. bring food, hot coffee, and make-shift shelters for warmth, to all these polling
places that are either under-staffed, under-equipped, refusing to give out ballots,
etc.

We know how to do this now folks! And this MAY be what it's going to take before
this election is over

(62,325 posts)water to the people lining up. Those lines are AMAZING!
I just read on Twitter that in Florida when they shut down the voting, the crowds all joined hands and began to chant 'Let Us Vote'! Unbelievable that this is necessary in this country.
Thank you for this thread. I think the voting is going okay where I am so far, but to try to take away this most Right from people, should be a very serious crime!
Again, thanks for the thread.

(19,326 posts)I'm in Blue Oregon, so can't be of much help on the ground,
as far as helping folks in long lines, cuz we got vote-by-mail
here (no lines is one benefit).
I think early voting is cool for many reasons, one of which is
that it can turn up these kinds of voter suppression attempts
and spot them early and put pressure on in (the nick of) time.

(62,325 posts)especially in Florida were not just Democrats either. I wonder what they were thinking when their party attempted to stop them from voting? Might have wakened a few of them up.
And Occupy is everywhere, helping voters, helping the victims of Sandy, in the courts, helping people stop foreclosures. This is one powerful movement and it gives me hope that maybe 'another world is possible'.
