Bulgaria's government has resigned from office following nationwide protests against high electricity prices, joining a long list of European administrations felled by austerity.

Prime minister Boiko Borisov had tried to calm protests by sacking his finance minister, pledging to cut power prices and punish foreign-owned companies but the measures failed to defuse discontent and protests continued last night.

Many Bulgarians are deeply unhappy over high energy costs, power monopolies, low living standards and corruption in the European Union's poorest country.

Twenty-five people were taken to hospital after protesters clashed with police yesterday.

(A bit more at the link. Edit: The banksters who use economic manipulations such as austerity are disaster capitalists. Right-wing governments with immigration restrictions aid bankster growth and plans, according to a report, so it is possible that to install governments favorable to their goals, they are driving populations to revolt in countries they do not already control. Canada, the UK, and the US are three countries driven by the very rich. Note the installation of Goldman Sachs personnel in various European banking systems and parliaments. It is very important to not overthrow a government without having something better ready to install turnkey.)
