The suck factor of this site goes up tremendously when we lose voices like hers.

I post at different times than the majority of DU, which I hope is why I hardly ever get replies to what I write (the alternative is that my posts are boring...) and it was always good to see that they had pointed out things early in the threads, telling truth to all of DU.

as in the juries were completely biased, and was sent on hiatus. She's now been off 5 hides for at least a week, but hasn't posted, so maybe she decided she didn't want to give Skinner et. al. the traffic?

Her last post was September 9. How many juries are you on?

And yes, I usually come in at the tail end of discussions because of the time difference, so what I would say is usually said. Therefore, I don't post often - as you can see, just 2000+ posts in 12 years, though I have been a loyal reader. Lately I have been thinking about going the way of redqueen and BainsBane, but while the price of admission to DU has risen quite a lot in the past couple of years, it hasn't gotten to the point where I say to heck with it, participating on this forum takes more than it gives.

a feminist forum too. i first came here because of the politics. and news. i still use it for that. i think that is another reason, some of us do not want to walk. i do not watch tv so my staying abreast is only with du, mostly.

kinda like a mentor.. I guess.

She was great.

I really do miss her. I learned a lot from her posts.

But she did have to put up with a lot of shit. I regret her decision but I understand it.

Everything in good time. Silence, is at least as important, to the message, as the noise.

We all are better for Redqueen's perspective and influence.

Thanks for the thread, theHandpuppet . I am here to lift and be lifted. Sometimes the less one says the more it makes their message remembered.

What the hell is this, a Stalinist purge?

What is sick is that the people responsible are either:

A) people that will vote for Hillary and call her a (censored) behind her back
B) people that will demand to be considered the "real" democrats and wind up voting for Mitt or Jeb, and blame WOMEN for why the did that.

I stay here not because I love DU, though I love many on that. I stay because I know the vultures are seeking to pick the bones, and I, and those like me, will NOT let them!

BTW skinner, if you want progressives to actually put so much as a dollar towards this site, here are two non negotiable demands:

One: consider a review of the jury system. Quit saying "we know it is not broken" like a broken record. There is smoke, if not fire.

Two: quit shoving ads for Discussionist down our throats when we log in. It is bad enough that that place is being used to some to harass YOUR ORIGINAL CUSTOMERS. Now we have to get reminders that we are the red-headed stepchildren. They will already have word of mouth, especially from the people that manage to somehow get kicked off here in between changing sock puppets!

She is missed

DU used to be special. It was a place where I could read things that made me think.

It is basically pointless now.

Endless bullying and bickering has driven almost everyone of value away.

I fucking hate DU3.

I know they were hounded and I'm impressed they put up with crap as long as they did, but we really did get so much from their strength and insight.

The world is changing despite them, and I get to be a part of it.

They were intellectually gifted and well able to conduct themselves in any fair debate, and also in so many unfair ones. It was a pleasure reading their opinions on many issues, not just women's.

So many good posters have left, and the pus laden hatred is unworthy of ones' time to refute. The provocateurs seek another variation to spew upon, never rebutting facts to their foulness.

The atmosphere is like a cesspool at times, and it never ends. The stench finally overwhelmed RQ and BB. Why dumpster dive if you're not starving?

The OP here on the Game stuff and reading the link fully, showed how toxic the online experience is. It truly does change one, and not just online. As one of the victims of the bullying said, how do you know the anonymous person isn't someone you know in real life?

And it is normal to defend oneself, to protect one's life from such hatred. Why bother to be here, other than see a few friends and read what they have to say?

After a while, it truly is bad for one's physical and mental health. We only have one life to live or so it's said. And even if that is wrong and we come back, why should we spend this one life being abused?

RQ and BB put up with some of the most vicious, prolonged abuse by those they could have beat in fight of wits with one hand tied behind their back. And those who did it are still here, and just yesterday I read one who was gloating over RQ's absence. Nauseating.

And what is this about Bainsbane not being here?

BainsBane profile indicates she will not be back, but she still reads and recs at times. Redqueen and Squinch threw up their hands after tired of the mental and emotional pollution that DU dishes out to women and minorities. And to all Democrats in the foulest ways possible.
