simply. it is just another avenue for a man to say shit about women for a laugh at our expense.
that is why so many women say, fuck it. not watching. the inundation of the crap all in a good laugh, right?
as our rights are taken away and our laws do not serve us.

does nothing to negate the fact. It is NOT cute and does NOT fool anyone.
And indeed, proves the guilt rather than the innocence.
So sick of the shit.

(34,424 posts)specifically or just the general morning crap on TV?
I gave it all up long ago. I hated what it had become but when I was building the house out here I had to live in the tiny barn apartment and I only got a couple of channels so I needed some way to catch the news. I cut it off forever the morning they were parading women around in different outfits and holding up cards with numbers on them. What outfits did they like, what women did they like whatever. It was disgusting, more-so than anything I had ever seen. The smarmy smiles on the faces of those classless, creepy men was it. I will never watch another morning show again.

(34,424 posts)I loved Stewart but had to stop watching since it seemed so much of the time to be geared to 14 year old boys. I do not recall this new guy. It will be on occasionally because my husband loves it and I come in from working on the farm at various times and he is always watching this or Colbert (when he was still on) or MSNBC. I have to go into another room, I can't abide any of it. I do watch a lot of TV but not that crap, only one or two main network shows but not even them often except for Survivor because it closely ties me with my kids who watched it with me from the beginning and it is about the only thing my RW brother and I can talk about.
I am very sad to hear this about the new guy.

(34,424 posts)My god. I can take a little fun from comics but there is a point when meanness and/or danger creep in. I know that younger people think this stuff if hilarious and love the pushing of these issues but for me, and apparently for a lot of you, there is pushing that hurts and pushing that helps and this does not help.
My husband would watch them bash women all over the place and laugh right as I am getting upset. He would take a little racism as well (because the guy is part black (I think) and somehow that makes it ok with him) but this he will not take. I wonder how he will be able to figure a way around this?

Does the Daily Show really want to go with somebody whose humor sounds like YouTube comments?

(3,747 posts)I will be boycotting the show. Disgusting, and goes to show how even "progressives" are often still bigoted to the core. Not that there hasn't been ample evidence already.

(42,486 posts)Never did. I had to read about it to discover it's didn't care about women.
I have a broad sense of humor, but the comics of today seem to be more formula and less topical. The replacment guy is one of those "I can say anything, I'm a comic" which is fine if they have a master sense of comedic timing and a strong feel for social justice.
Anything less and you end up with a sexist bigot.

(26,618 posts)because I support your views, although we stopped watching tv decades ago. We have one for grandchildren but only turn it on ourselves in the event of something really important in the news.
