DU Community Help
Related: About this forumFound my people... thanks DU
Hi everyone,
I am new here but not to these types of forums. Years ago I participated in the forum formerly called Common Ground Common Sense. This election cycle I was looking for a new place that I could trust. Too much hyperbole and misinformation is out there blurring the lines of propaganda, rhetoric and campaigning. Too much is at stake.
I sought for an online community that is centered in critical thinking, one to call out a bluff and one where tough questions within the party can be discussed civilly without it turning into a hate fest. I remembered the DU from the early forum days. I was glad to see it still exist.
Every day I struggle with not taking the bait from yet another Hillary hater whether it be on line ( FB is a wasteland) or a super market. I want to come here so I can really get my game on, have the right talking points that are fact checked and really help dissuade that person on the fence from throwing a vote away in November.

(112 posts)For the third time, including this post, I forgot to include a subject (title) and my post disappeared and so did the thread.
On the Welcome thread, I tried to post a question about this and got a message saying I can't start a new thread! If it is a welcome thread, why not? How do these other new members post their threads?
Why does the whole thread and my response disappear when I forget to enter a title?
I hope I can figure this out as it would be nice to be able to support Hillary without being attacked.
I belong to a number of other forums and none of them require a title when I am posting a response to a thread. And, I can always use the back button if I goof on anything. Thanks for any help for an actually generally competent computer user.

(12 posts)One of the rules I found here was that you needed to respond to 10 posts before you can even do your welcome story. Looks like you have 3.
I followed a few threads, responded to 10 then I was "upgraded" to be allowed to respond. Also, you had to wait 3 minutes between each post. This is all to make sure you are not a robot. I guess.

(112 posts)Thanks, gduval.
I'm new to this particular site as well. I live in a conservative community, so I understand the frustration of being outnumbered in a conversation! I hope you finally find some intelligent conversation here!

(10 posts)Just wanted to say hi and welcome! I'm new here myself and I've never used forums before. I've been a bit inactive in politics lately but hoping to get involved in some lively and educational discussions.
All the best!

(164 posts)Democratic Underground is s bright spot of sanity on the internet. It is a cohesive community that does good work in a manner forums like Free Republic wishes it could, or at least says it does.
I came here because Trump alarms and worries me. He is dangerous, but more importantly he represents dangerous political, social and economic ignorance amoug this in the electorate who adore this American Hitler.
I will do my best to be a good member here.
