Help with the Sound of Music

I have not had any sound on DU for the past couple months. Really aggravating. I can't figure out what I did to deserve this, or how to make it come back.

Help please. I've posted about it a couple times previously.

In site settings options, there's a choice to 'mute site' or add a site to 'mute' list. Donkees Aug 2019 #13

5. YouTube and Twitter post videos?

The reason I ask is because they are (I think) the only media sources that can be played directly from a DU post:

?s=20

So, do you hear sound from either?

If you muted it for the last video, all subsequent videos will be muted.

I find 'Site-Settings' listed as a sub-heading of 'Privacy and Security' and then see a list of 'permissions' including 'mute site sound'

The closest thing I can find under privacy or security, was something under "Multi-media". I did check sound under that. Do you think it might work if my system was rebooted?

Really appreciate your help.

so there must be instructions for 'unmuting'. I'm not very techy, but maybe this page will offer a better explanation of where the problem is hiding (?)

Under the “Privacy and security” section, click “Content settings.” Click “Sound.”

Are you on a computer? Which browser are you using?

If Firefox, right click anywhere on the page to get the context menu, then select "View Page Info". Then go to the Permissions tab and make sure that Autoplay is selected, or 'Use default'.

And DU is the only site that does this. My tech guy wondered if maybe the powers-that-be did an upgrade that changed settings?

I will try with another browser though. Thanks!

It worked! It worked! It worked!

Opened in Firefox, and now I have sound back. I'm thrilled!

Although I still don't understand why this happened with Chrome, and only on DU.

It may be a chrome page setting - I don't use it much.

But either way, I'm thrilled that you're thrilled.
