Any thoughts on posting from Photobucket?

Nothing I "share" will post here. Not a single link. I know it is a trashy sharing site but it wasn't back in 2008 or so when I first joined, it worked fine, and it has thousands of my pix on it. So I can't post any of them??? Have sent them a support request but what will they say other than use the links?? ARGH.

Meanwhile, I put a couple of pix on Imgur and they seemed to post. But I need to get to the Photobucket ones. I tried to remove everything before the .jpg, maybe I will try getting rid of everything after it.

Just put the silly pix (only two, just a weird ice thing) on Imgur and they posted fine (or seemed to). It's so aggravating--I lost almost all my original images except what happened to be stored on Photobucket, and now it is useless!

For instance, you can try the email version and just copy the link it put in the email, etc.

Looks like there are a lot of options. Don’t give up the ship!

I appreciate your taking the time! I am going to try taking out some of the gibberish after the .jpg, I remember that when I was able to post from them before, it ended with .jpg. I sent them a help request, but I don't hold high hopes. Last time I had a problem, they said they didn't see it (watermark on my posted image) although everyone I sent to look at it saw it. So I suspect I might just get "gosh, the links all work at this end" and no help.

I will keep trying. Worse comes to worst, I can just do an image capture from Photobucket and upload it to Imgur and post from there. Photobucket degrades the images anyway (why I got my Smugmug account, for the ones I really care about). I'll experiment more later today...

--may be one you sent as well--the difference is that I was double-clicking the image and using the share function from that preview screen, when apparently I am supposed to do the sharing from the thumbnail view. Also, instead of the [IMG] link, which usually works but with them and DU you get the actual link info printed out as well, I used the Direct Link code, which removes the link info. I actually had to write that down on a post-it so I wouldn't forget, since it is different from the way they used to have it, and hardly intuitive. I want to see the size and quality of the image before I share, rather than sharing from a little thumbnail...

My advice to anyone shopping for image hosting, use Imgur or some other and not Photobucket. Used to be great, though.

https://postimages.org/

It is sooo easy.

1. Go to their page
2. Click on "Choose Image"
3. Open your picture file
4. Double Click on the picture you want
5. A new page will open on postimage
6. Copy the "Direct Link"
7. Paste the direct Link in your email, post, whatever.

You do have to have the picture in your picture file, so copy the picture from imgur and save in your picture file.

They actually wanted $400+ for a subscription. I left my pix there. They came down to $5 a month, and since they have literally thousands of my images, from 2007 or so on, I need them. I had a computer problem and lost almost all originals... So in a lot of cases they have the only copies. So I will pay $5 a month. All new ones are going to Smugmug if they are favorites, or Imgur if they are regulars.
