Related: About this forumDU and iOS 16.3
Ever since I updated 2 days ago, DU often loads like my wifi is super slow:
My wifi is fine and so far DU is the only site doing this. If I reload the page a couple times I can eventually get the normal looking version to load. Sometimes Ill tap on a thread and the slow version of the site loads.
Anyone else having this issue?
I hate 16.3. I keep accidentally taking screenshots when I swipe back and it rearranged all my icons.

(16,953 posts)that is strange. Maybe check out some Apple forums regarding the re-ordering of icons?

(22,518 posts)When you visit a DU page, your browser loads a few separate files. The HTML file contains the page data and structure, and there are also CSS files which tell the browser how to display the page (fonts, colors, spacing, etc. etc. etc.)
It looks to me as if the HTML file is loading, but the CSS files -- which do most of the work when it comes to laying out the page -- are not. So you're seeing the page data and rough structure, but if the CSS files don't load, then the browser doesn't have any further instructions on how to display the page and just resorts to its default settings.
Unfortunately I'm not sure why this is happening to you. Since you just did an OS update, my first suggestion would be to try clearing out your browsing data to see if that makes a difference. Here are some instructions on how to do that:

Try logging out of DU, clearing your cache, and then logging in again. Let me know if that helps (or not).

(5,090 posts)Thank you for the reply.
Do you know if you're running any content blockers on your phone, like an ad blocker?
If you're on a DU page that looks weird, try tapping the little double-AA to the left of the address bar on your device, and a menu will pop up. Tap "Turn Off Content Blockers" and see if anything changes...

(5,090 posts)when I tap the Aa on the address bar. The closest thing I could find is that I have prevent cross-site tracking enabled in the Safari settings. Im on an iPad, if that makes a difference?

(22,518 posts)Since you're on an iPad, try that same menu as before, but look for the option which says either "Request Desktop Website" or "Request Mobile Website" -- does changing that do anything?

(5,090 posts)I swear I had already tried that button?? Now it says request mobile site, and I opened DU in about 10 new tabs and each one loaded properly. Ill post here again if it goes weird on me later.
Thanks!
Okay Im not entirely sure why that worked but glad it did

(13,550 posts)In my IT experience, things would go off the rails. Almost always on a Friday afternoon, as I was getting ready to go home.
Most of the time, but not all, it was some temporary glitch somewhere on the vast internet that someone fixed shortly thereafter. Debugging was mostly a waste of time.
In the case of browsers, they cache a ton of stuff, and clearing the cache (if you know how --- It's usually in the privacy options, not clear for beginners to find, is roughly the equivalent of rebooting a computer, which cures many problems. But browsers remember (bad) stuff across reboots.
The best test I found is whether others are having the same problem. If they are, sit back and wait for the Menehune (IT folks) to fix it. Usually rebooting a router somewhere.
I use 3 different browsers at times, and that can narrow down the problem.
Glad that it was resolved.

(5,090 posts)The issue has not returned since I tapped the View Desktop Site button yesterday.
The day I updated to 16.3 I was also getting Cloudflare errors on here. Those resolved themselves.

(1,342 posts)Happened suddenly and lasted about 3 or 4 minutes and then it suddenly righted itself (not due to anything I tried at least as far as I can tell)

(12,849 posts)Started a few hours ago and it's been off and on. I fix it by closing the browser and waiting a few minutes before restarting with no cache clearing.
