how do I get this board to remember my account and login.
Please don't tell me to check the remember me box. I have done that at least 1000 times.
I'm lost the only thing I can think, does this have something with the latest software upgrade?

(6,842 posts)Is your cache clearing when you shut things down? Maybe your pc setting changed and it's clearing out your password?

(33,643 posts)It never forgets my info, and never logs me out unless I ask it to.
For real though people need more info than this to help.
Apple/Android/PC, what's the OS version, what browser are you using, etc?
And 'the latest software update' could refer to many, many things esp. without any of the above context
Also if you're talking about the login process, it's not really 'the board' that 'remembers you' in terms of auto-filling that info. It's your browser.

(57,372 posts)my password is already there from previous logins, click the login button and I'm in.
I don't know if that is a shorter series of clicks than what you're dealing with (most times I don't log out), but it gets me past the DU homepage with all the ads and I can go directly to "latest threads" or any other of the tabs up top.
I use FireFox as my browser.

The cookies are where the login information is stored, so if your browser (Safari?) has had that setting turned on, try turning it off.

(13,582 posts)Heck, I just cleared history and got booted out of my reply. I got logged out.
You can do it manually, with "Clear History..."
It's in two Safari menus in the latest version.
Otherwise, these things persist.
Presuming you know none of this, did anyone install an extension to your browser or some privacy software, or is this only a one-time thing after your update?

(13,582 posts)Even "computer gurus" can't figure out most problems, so here are the two strategies "we" use.
1. I can't possibly be the first or only person to run into this. So, look it up on the internet. Prefer DuckDuckGo to Google, so that I won't be bombarded with ads for janky software "fixit" programs, half of which are malware.
2. Punch every button and click every damn menu item you can find until something works.

But I also have a notebook with things like that noted down. Old school all the way.
