Resetting selections from default in Latest Discussions

I can't get Latest to stay Latest. The default setting keeps changing away from most recent. What does "relevant" mean? I just want the latest and cannot get them because the selection keeps reverting. It made reading easier just to go to Latest but now that's not working.

Let's just make sure we're on the same page... to be clear, you're talking about the Latest Discussions page found here:

https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=latest_threads

(Or by clicking Navigate > Latest Discussions)

On this page, like most pages on DU4, you should see six "context buttons" near the top. One of these is blue and says "Start discussion" -- another one should be yellow and look like this:

If that button is yellow, it means the threads on the Latest Discussions page are being sorted in chronological order, with the most recent at the top. That should be the default view when you arrive at the page.

Below that, there is what we call the "filter bar" which looks like this:

The image above shows what the default settings look like.

Category allows you to filter the page so it only shows threads from certain categories
Relevance allows you to filter the page so it only shows political threads, or non-political threads
Started within allows you to filter the page so it only shows threads from a particular time frame
Milestones allows you to show or remove posting milestones on the page

The default settings are "All," "All," "24 hours," and "Milestones" -- if you change any of these settings and hit "Go", you'll get a notification in the filter bar which reminds you you're not in default view and allows you to change it back. The notification looks like this:

So to address your issue -- does the above make sense, and is that what you are seeing when you visit the Latest Discussions page? If that is not what you are seeing, or if you don't think it's behaving the way it should, please let me know. The more information you can give me about what you're seeing, the better.

Yes.

Yes

If that button is yellow, it means the threads on the Latest Discussions page are being sorted in chronological order, with the most recent at the top. That should be the default view when you arrive at the page.

Below that, there is what we call the "filter bar" which looks like this:

No

The "filter bar" that I see is black-and-white and has three action choices:
First, moving horizontally is
Show:: which contains a drop down menu with five choices.
1. Relevance:
2. ----------
3. All
4. Political
5. Non political
And when I select "All [default]" and hit "Go" it reverts to Relevance:

Second, moving horizontally, is Started within: which contains a drop down menu with eleven choices
1. Started within
2. ---------------
3. 3 hours
4. 6 hours
5. 12 hours
6. 24 hours [default]
7. 36 hours
8. 48 hours
9. 72 hours
10. One week
11. Two weeks

Third, moving horizontally, is Go!

Of these choices:

1. Show: is visible sans drop down
2. Category: [drop down arrow] is not visible
3. Relevance: [drop down arrow] seems non functional and resets when I select something else from the drop down
4. Started within: [drop down arrow] is visible
5. Milestones: [drop down arrow] isn't visible
6. Go! Visible

So I see:
Show: Relevance: [drop down arrow] Startedwithin: [drop down arrow] then Go!

The image above shows what the default settings look like.

That's not what I see.

Category allows you to filter the page so it only shows threads from certain categories
Relevance allows you to filter the page so it only shows political threads, or non-political threads
Started within allows you to filter the page so it only shows threads from a particular time frame
Milestones allows you to show or remove posting milestones on the page

No

If that is not what you are seeing, or if you don't think it's behaving the way it should, please let me know. The more information you can give me about what you're seeing, the better.

I've tried the best I know how without being able to take screenshots. Hopefully, this helps.
