Help! My entire page has gone berserk

When I log onto DU I am getting a big gray area on my screen with a column of words down the middle that looks like someone took a white-out brush to them. I’m not getting the My Stuff page like before and on all other pages, the posts are small and jumbled up.

Right now the area where I am typing this post is about 18 letters wide. It’s a long skinny box.

I’m on an IPad and I was using Skinner mode before and everything was fine. Can anyone please help?

same damn mess.

DU4 might be phone friendly for some phones, but it isn't tablet friendly. At least not yet. So I'm spending more time at my desk on one of my laptops, which is not helpful with my back problems.

I had my son the IT specialist help me clear my cach/cookies and now everything looks like it did before. Whew! What a relief!

Thank you for your speedy reply!

Yep it’s not the greatest on a tablet, is it? I have back problems too.

5. I'm so glad that worked for you! Had my fingers crossed here.

As far as I can tell from comments I've seen posted, DU4 is working much better for some DUers using certain types of phones - and I'm glad of that, and there are good reasons for making it work better for people using only their phones to reach the site. But DU4 is apparently causing problems with other phones. And it seem to be causing a variety of problems with most tablets, and in general isn't as good a viewing experience with computers.

I wish we'd had a much, much longer beta test. But then not enough people were beta testing it, and I have to admit that I wasn't looking at DU4 as much as I should have, since I just found it much less convenient to use than DU3. I should have caught stuff like the Sent folder showing only the sender's name - and none of the recipients - much sooner.

I just continued on using DU3 because I found 4 less convenient and figured I’d learn it when I HAD to and not before.

I have found that I have to view DU4 on my tablet horizontally to see all the image, and typing while it’s horizontal is a bit of a pain. The old page where I saw everything including the left column with all the forums, on the vertical set page was so easy. That’s really my only beef with the new setup. Guess I’ll just have to get used to doing more navigating. 🙂

account settings for Standard instead of Mobile for mobile devices, and I loved that - could hold the tablet vertically and see the full page and as many as 30 threads on the screen at a time, so I rarely needed to scroll. I hated to lose that. To end up seeing only a small part of what I used to see at one glance.

9. Sounds like it's written for a particular device and all others are treated as edge cases.

Been a long time since I did any html or php, but standards are designed to be device-agnostic.
