DU Community Help
Related: About this forumWe performed some updates to the tablet version of the site earlier today
Various tweaks were made to hopefully make some improvements to DU on tablet.
The homepage layout was adjusted when holding a tablet horizontally, it now has an additional column to make it more like the laptop/desktop version. This brings the Latest Breaking News section higher up the page.
We also made tweaks to the home page for people who hold tablets vertically. We also included some tweaks to other pages for those people. For example, you can now see all of the Filter bar options when on the Latest, Greatest, or Latest Videos pages.
We are aware there may still be an issue with certain tablets which makes the edit and reply buttons disappear from OPs if the tablet is held horizonally. We're still looking into this, but in the meantime if you need those buttons you can flip your tablet horizonally and they should appear.
We're going to continue to make fixes and tweaks as we go forward.

(25,114 posts)I do love the dark mode but it wouldn't kill me to go without it a while.
Did you see the reply I sent to you about the menu? I hope so. It took me a long time to compose since I couldn't just take a screen shot.
Everything in good time. Thanks for your help.

(22,514 posts)Are you still using du4.democraticunderground.com? The test server is offline for everyone now -- except Admins and members of MIRT (we have testing reasons for including MIRT that are unrelated to MIRT duties).
If you are using du4.democraticunderground.com then you're looking at our test server and not the main servers. You're likely to see page errors and weird stuff going on while we're working, plus changes on the test server are not always going to be synced exactly with the main servers.
Now that the DU4 software has been copied over, the new design is running on www.democraticunderground.com which you should use instead of du4.democraticunderground.com -- it will hopefully fix any issues you're having.

(22,514 posts)The reason I asked was because the Sent Mail page is currently showing white text with yellow background on the test server (du4) but not on the main servers (www). Since you're currently on MIRT I thought maybe you were looking at the wrong page.
To be clear, do you see a difference between these two pages, or do they look the same?
https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=inbox&folder=sent
https://du4.democraticunderground.com/?com=inbox&folder=sent
The first link should look normal, whereas the second should show the problem you're having. If they both look the same, then your browser is probably caching an older version of a particular file which needs to be updated. You could try:
1) Go to the Sent Mail page where you see the problem -- hold down the Shift key, and click your browser's reload button.
2) If that doesn't work, click the following link (it will look like a wall of code), then hold down the Shift key, and click your browser's reload button:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/du4css/du4.css
Then go back here and see if anything changed:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=inbox&folder=sent
3) If neither of those worked, the next step would be to try clearing your browser cache. Please let me know if you need instructions on how to do this.

So far I've checked with both Default and Skinner mode, but without resetting my tablet's browser to desktop view for DU.
