This has been working for me

twitter.com links still work fine for it, the same as they always have on DU. When embedding a tweet in your post, all you need is the link to the tweet, then just replace x.com with twitter.com and it should work (at least until they turn the embedding feature off I guess).

I don't use the platform but I did notice that the new url links were minus the blue thingy warning me that there might be nothing to the OP but a link. I find those annoying and would not open them if I knew that's all there was. I refuse to open those.
