Is it possible to sort replies in a thread by time?

By default the sort order seems to be by time within subthreads. But I would prefer to read the whole thread without the subthreading getting in the way (causing me to have to re-read things I’ve already read). Especially when there are many replies and multiple sub threads.

2 replies = new reply since forum marked as read

Methinks that replies could be terribly confusing without context. usonian Jun 2024 #1
I just wish there was a way to mark a THREAD (not a whole group) as read progree Jun 2024 #2

But the admins read this group and I am sure that your vote is counted.

It would have to be a mod to the site software.

(I'm using read here in the past tense)

One can mark a whole group as read, and that means any new threads or new replies in old threads -- new since the last time I marked the group as read -- are marked in yellow. So that is very handy.

But often I don't want to mark a whole group as read, but rather just one or two threads that I'm following intensely. Unfortunately, there is no way to do that. Oh well.

I end up making notes on the thread (usually in a notepad file) where I write down when I last checked, and the last reply number I read.

I could also use the new DU4 Notes feature for this purpose, but it clutters up my bookmarks -- I want to save bookmarks for important threads that I want to find in the future, not for all threads that I, for a while, want to keep track of what the last reply that I read was.
