Can we please get a temporary private forum to express unhappiness about Biden dropping out?

I don't want us to air our frustration and disappointment in public for the maggots to misuse.

But there are a number of DUers, loyal Democrats, who are sad, angry and grieving.

It does not help to be told to shut up, get with the program, put on a happy face, or be accused of being a troll, or being soft on fascism.

It certainly does not help for some to keep harping on our president being too old, too feeble, too incapable. Many of us love and respect our president, and are distressed to see these descriptions continue in public after he has bowed to the party leaders' will and withdrawn his candidacy.

We will come around, but some of us need a place to vent for a short time.

Thank you.

Expecting Democrats to withhold well-earned praise from President Biden for one's own personal reasons seems a bit misguided.

I fully supported the president staying in, but the praise isn't about us. It's about him. He deserves it and more.

will experience. It is not a shame, it is not something that needs to be denied. I talked to father at 85 and he said "getting" old. I told him, you ARE old. Not getting. Being OLD myself, I am not gonna apologize for it. So people having a conversation about a person aging shouldn't have to be hidden or whispered. I have a couple friends asking for the time to grieve. I personally do not get it not being emotionally attached to a candidate, simply hiring someone to do a job. Biden did it and did it well. He is being applauded and for being "pressured" out, is really coming out of this looking golden and stillar and can hold his head high.

I guess I would simply prefer Biden allowed that respect instead of a tragic failure walking out in shame of simply aging.

I have to bite my tongue when Dems celebrate that Biden is out.

And It's so wrong when Dems get upset that the polls don't show Kamala beating pedo Trump. Wasn't this why they kicked off Biden? The polls were supposed to show kicking Biden off would have Kamala winning in a landslide. Lies?

I have to just leave to keep from bashing Dems for what they did.

Joe was hired to think and lead, and he has done a masterful job. In declining to continue, he has flummoxed Trump and given us new energy, attention, and momentum.

The OP is correct in that negative feelings and disappointments should not be aired because they help the opposition. I hope and encourage those folks to assess the landscape and see their help is needed in local races, county Dem HQ's, school board races (Moms for Liberty are still rolling). That's what Joe wants us to do. Nothing will satisfy him more here than if his assessment of the situation was correct and we deliver the knockout blow to Donald Trump. Duty calls and tempus fugits. 3-1/2 months to election day!!

Add to that my cynicism, and I can get quite rude about what just happened.

It would be nice to have a place to express this without worrying about not supporting Dems.

I know what they'll throw at her.

I don't think a forum allowing Biden loyalist a place to vent it out and heal is gonna hurt Harris's campaign one bit. I think family discussions heal, if the family is loving and not dysfunctional. I have faith in democracy, Democrats, and DUers.

I’m fielding a lot of jury duty requests for people who are grieving the process they thought they were supporting. No one I’ve seen is advocating another candidate, most have been respectfully written. They’ve all been onboard with Harris (pledging their vote at least) and just need a safe space to process their feelings with others.

It’s been a shock to the system - both physical/mentally among voters and also to the Democratic process as many expected it was/should have played out this election cycle.

I’m thinking a 7-10 day temp forum is a reasonable mourning period.

A mourning period is reasonable but even the Puritans and Victorians put limits on mourning periods. Timelines are short going into the mid-21st Century, and I’m sure you remember the disappointment and anger of the 2016 election cycle. An open-ended forum could foment dissension at a time when we literally need everyone on board with Harris. Dwelling on what has happened isn’t good for mental health, either. It happened; give folks the chance to grieve and also encourage them to move on for the sake of their sanity and the nation.

That may or not happen . Frankly I don’t think it will but it would be nice.
A private place to gather with others without the slings and arrows from those who don’t get our grief.
I’ve already had one post deleted today for pointing out the hypocrisy of
‘come together/ deal with it’ posts some others are receiving .
I guess I will have to censor my feelings as well and get into the flow.

Have a great day

DUers deserve a forum to process this change. I believe our voices together are healing. We're a big rowdy passionate family and people committed to seeing Biden through the election should have a safe space.

To my friends who wanted Biden to stick it our thru November, I offer you this quote from Gene Hackman from the Keanu movie, The Replacements:

Winners always want the ball when the game is on the line.

Think. Again.

Jerry Garcia, then I read that Biden was dropping his campaign. This week already sucks. I grieve silently mostly, but a private place where a person (who's shy) can express their grief would be nice.

On a brighter note, what helps me right now, the fledgling red tail hawk that fell out of my tree 10 days ago, is flying!
