...I personally don't know much about how the system works. I've had posts removed that I couldn't get an explanation for, and I've also experienced the feeling of being ganged up on, but I honestly believe those attacks are from lingering embedded trolls and are NOT being slung by good-faith DUers.

I believe DU is a target for rightwingers looking to disrupt Dem unity and interfere with messaging, so I guess we just have to put up with their efforts, challenge obvious B.S., call out what we can, and stay strong.

...someone like that who actually said "don't you talk to me like that!" in the mail in response to a civilly-worded post I made.

I asked them in a return mail if they ever considered anger management training and moved on.

Whether any given member actually holds any "power" over DU administration, I doubt, but who knows.

We're a community. Might as well know who's responsible for what.

That feels like publicly calling someone out, there is a group looking to ban me for anything.
maybe if the issue cannot get addressed in a few days

Sounds like a lot of stuff going on here, best leave this to the administration.

I personally would go to a public computer, such as a library, and open it there. Let their AV and security deal with it. Plus the sender would only get the public IP address, not your personal one.

11. If you receive an unwanted DU Mail message

You have a couple of options. The first is to click the "Alert" button which exists at the bottom of the message you received. Be aware however that the Jury system does not apply to DU Mail messages. The alert will be sent to me, and I will only take action if it contains something particularly egregious, like a threat of violence or something bigoted.

The other option which we recommend to everyone is to block mail messages from the sender. Click on the sender's name in your inbox to go to their Profile page, then click the Ignore button found near the top of the page. After that, select the "Block mail" option. If you don't want to see any posts by the member either you can click "Full ignore."
