Missing avatars

I started noticing this a few weeks ago. I see the tiny blue box with a question mark in some, but not all, posts. Starting today I just see white space. Another person mentioned the Ukrainian flag avatar. That's what I use and I see that fine in at least my own profile.

Of course, I can't tell what I'm not seeing so I have no idea of what the pattern is.

Anyone else having this happen?

I see my own avatar just fine but most others show up as the tiny blue box with the question mark inside it.

With all "blocking" add-ins or security software disabled I still can't see them.

1.HOWEVER: if I click on the posts whose avatars don't show up in the thread to respond, I generally CAN see them.
2. A few avatars DO show up and these appear to be those that the user downloaded themselves and NOT DU-provided--even on the threads without trying to respond.
3. If I click on the (missing, non-rendered) avatar to have it load in a new tab, I get an error message that states:

The page isn’t redirecting properly

An error occurred during a connection to www.democraticunderground.com.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

4. As to the message above, I am accepting cookies, have cleared cache, repeat, rinse, repeat.

5. Because these avatars typically DO show up when I click to respond to the post but not when I see it on the thread, I honestly do not think it is a user problem. Earl G/Elad... what do you think?

Same for many other users.

When I try to open the image in a new tab, I get an error:

The page isn’t redirecting properly

But I can see it here on the "Post a reply" page.

I couldn't see anyone's, now I see yours at least. It is incredibly minor in the stream of things, but so unpredictable. I am not doing anything differently but they come and go.

Moving on. At least I'm not alone.

I have Make America Kittens Again installed, and it's worked fine up until now. Suddenly, it's replacing my smilies as well as pictures with a Trump label. The smilies don't have any connection to Trump.

I turned off the extension and things look back to normal. A shame -- I prefer replacing and all pix of tsf's ugly mug.
