OPs that appear on the home page under Trending and Greatest duscussions. You shouldn't see the OPs in the forums.

I can't check that myself because I've never put anyone on ignore.

The home page is generated differently than other pages on the site. My understanding (the database/network stuff is not my area of expertise) is that because of the way that page is generated, the Ignore function can’t work there because it would put too much stress on the servers. So the Ignore function works everywhere in the forums, but not on the home page.

on the DU. It is not just about me. If I'm going to block I'm also likely to alert.

Block mail. Selecting this option prevents another member from sending DU Mail messages to your inbox. If they try to send you a DU Mail message, they will be informed that your inbox is unavailable. You may use this option on an unlimited number of members. (Note: this only applies to DU Mail; it does not affect your regular email.)

Full ignore. Selecting this option prevents you from seeing another member. While logged in, you will not be able to see any of their posts or replies to their posts. This option includes Block Mail -- whether you are logged in or not, the member will not be able to send you DU Mail messages. You may use this option on an unlimited number of members.

Did you try reloading after you put them on ignore??

I have some blocked and never see them.

at the top of threads in the Home Page. Forums it is hidden. But not home page..

That it does not work on home page, that explains it,I never use home page.

They can still see you and follow you around and comment on your posts, and you won't even know it. DU should fix that, so if you ignore someone, it works both ways and they can't see you either. It would be an easy fix.

that it would not be an “easy fix” at all. So when you say that, and people read it, they think we don’t have the function because we can’t be bothered, and not because it would actually be a nightmare to implement — not just to program, but because of the negative ramifications from a community management standpoint. DU is not a social media platform, and not all social media solutions make sense for DU.
