The mind and immune system

I read an article about how the brain changes your body chemistry to fit what state of mind you're in. It said that fear causes the body to divert resources to fight or flight mode. One of the suppressed resources is the immune system. Being what most would consider elderly, I was experiencing my share of fear and decided to give meditation a try.
My partner and I set a time that worked for both of us and we started off with five minutes and moved immediately to ten. Having never tried this before, I was surprised and delighted by the results. Calming for sure, but most of all, a sense of peace and confidence knowing that I could meditate whenever I needed and my immune system was better off for it.
