What to do when your sig other is threating you with death?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by fizzgig (a host of the Mental Health Information group).

but you know if you call the police he will be very offensive and might be killed?

He only drinks and passes out..wakes up and drinks...he can talk for hours on end...like 12 or more while he is drunk

He keeps me awake all night spewing all sort of crap...but how can I do something fearing how the police handle such matters?

an already horrible situation. The best I can think of is getting away from the situation sometime while he is not on a rampage. Get away sometime while he is away from the house, or while you are away from the house, or while he's asleep.

You have to protect yourself first. I think you are right to fear how the police would behave in such a situation.

Can you get away?

I have come to a point where I would never call the police in any situation.

and hopefully cause him to realize he's reached 'bottom.'

Protect yourself first, and the police will help you do this. Inform the police you think he may become 'offensive,' so they should be prepared. He has weapons, which he could use to kill you? GET OUT! Do NOT fear the police, fear HIM. The police helped me in several situations, and finally enabled me to leave the house permanently.

There are probably services in your community that will offer you shelter. SEEK THEM OUT!
