Possession of all non-antique weapons except for these would be illegal, and antique weapons would have to be registered.

I mean, we've got to register a car to drive it, so registering a gun and giving it a digital interface with optical or fingerprint scanning doesn't seem like an undue burden.

Dreaming, I know. . . .

Yes, all old guns would need to be made illegal and removed.

The fingerprint idea would ensure the wrong person can not use it, but would still allow the actual owner to kill with the weapon.

Maybe both security features?

There are 0 manufacturing requirements for guns. Zero, zip, nada. If guns were manufactured to the same safety level as cars . . .
