Smart guns?
Require all weapons to be produced with an embedded optical system that automatically puts the gun in a non removable safety lock if it senses any human forms down range?

(2,978 posts)Possession of all non-antique weapons except for these would be illegal, and antique weapons would have to be registered.
I mean, we've got to register a car to drive it, so registering a gun and giving it a digital interface with optical or fingerprint scanning doesn't seem like an undue burden.
Dreaming, I know. . . .

The fingerprint idea would ensure the wrong person can not use it, but would still allow the actual owner to kill with the weapon.
Maybe both security features?
