Gun owner shoots himself and wife in church, while advocating rights to bring guns to church

Hmm Doesnt seem like all gun advocates provide safety to a church by carrying the guns to services . Is it worth the gamble? Who can predict which could protect and which will unintentionally harm?

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the incident occurred at the First United Methodist Church in Tellico Plains, Tenn., after an 80-year-old man pulled out his gun during a discussion about guns being allowed in church. Although he pulled the magazine out of the gun, once he reloaded the mag, it loaded a round into the gun’s chamber, according to the report.

A fellow churchgoer then asked to see the .318 caliber Ruger, and according to Tellico Plains Police Chief Russ Parks, that’s when the bullets began to fly.

“He pulled it back out and said, ‘With this loaded indicator, I can tell that it’s not loaded,’” Parks said. The man then pulled the trigger.

Not only did the man shoot himself in the hand, but the bullet also entered his wife’s abdomen, before it exited. The couple were airlifted to the hospital, and charges were not filed.

away, it might be time to have you give up your guns too. Same if you are taking medications that alter judgement. I have never seen this issue addressed.

I had to take my father-in-laws guns away when he was dying and suffering from dementia. I saw him thinking my wife was some kind of grim reaper when she went in his bedroom to check on him. He was trying to get to one of his guns. He didn't like it when I started collecting them. He was like a 25 year military retiree who then put in 20+ years with the local police force. He was a decent guy though, that was not a big gun nut.

I remember one time when he was getting sick we went in some restaurant on the way to a specialist in a big town. Some screwed up guy (probably a policeman) with dual shoulder holsters walked in with his coat off. My x-military/police father-in-law called him a "silly fool" to his face when he walked by. Cracked me up.

If you’re righteous, the Good Lord will spare you. Looks like these people are mostly righteous but have some work to do before they are truly saved.

And that's not a matter of how old you are. Plenty of people of all ages don't seem to know how to clear a chamber and render such pistols genuinely safe. A "load indicator" is no substitute for having your head out of your ass.

Pssst...do not mention the Gun or Gun Control...it is too early for that.

America is insane in too many ways to count. Good thing there are enough liberals around to fix it all in time.
