More dumb people with guns...
http://wfla.com/2017/12/27/22-year-old-mistaken-as-thief-killed-by-father/Trammells family says he was driving away from his parents home around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday in one of his fathers vehicles when it happened.
His father was unaware that his son was borrowing his truck. Fearing the vehicle was being stolen, the family says he yelled out and fired a warning shot in the air in an attempt to get the drivers attention. They say he then shot once at the tailgate to stop whoever was taking the truck.
Once the truck stopped, they say his father realized he had accidentally shot his own son.

(9,103 posts)It's Christmas Eve at almost midnight...
-Dad, who is in his workshop singing (Christmas carols?) has his loaded gun beside his guitar just in case the Grinch shows up?
-the Father of the Year decides to stop the car thief by shooting at his own truck (that's the Christmas spirit!)
-the local cops rule the shooting "accidental" presumably because the shooter missed the tailgate that he was aiming at
If I have reason to drive through Alabama, I will make sure to avoid Culman...

(54,770 posts)Of course had it been a "thug," rather than his son, the gun-stroking dad would be called a hero among the gun culture.
Another one of those responsible gun owners who don't fire into the air, never aim at a target they haven't identified, don't shoot people in the back, etc.
