Santa Fe shooting: Texas Republicans offer 'thoughts and prayers,' Democrats call for gun control
AUSTIN Within minutes of the confirmation that at least eight people had been killed at Santa Fe High School outside Houston, Texas Democrats running for office had begun calling once again for a serious conversation surrounding gun control.
"We have the power to stop putting our children's lives at risk. We must end this. Enough talk," Andrew White, a Houston businessman running for governor, tweeted Friday. His opponent, former Dallas County sheriff Lupe Valdez, sent a statement saying "enough is enough."
"We are living in a time when our children are literally marching in the streets, demanding that we, the adults, make the change to keep them safe," Valdez said. "We will act to make change. There is no other option."
Texas voters have not elected a Democrat to statewide office in 20 years, and gun control is rarely a serious topic for debate in the GOP-dominate state Legislature that recently approved "campus carry" legislation allowing concealed weapons to be carry at colleges and universities.

Most polls on the need for stronger gun control measures indicate that the American Public is leaning in the direction of supporting such legislation. On the other hand, the NRA owns many Texas politicians and their mileage may vary.

are helpless, we can't do anything so 'thoughts and prayers.' (PS: to NRA, don't forget your contributions to us.)

(especially Ted Cruz) and all the others are still in office our kids are not safe. Vote them all out!

Put them rogether and you have a recipe for disaster.
