3 children dead, 1 critically wounded in separate weekend gun accidents nationwide
Three children died and one was critically wounded in apparent gun accidents in separate incidents across the country this weekend.
Police in Houston say a two-year-old fatally shot himself Sunday afternoon after finding an unsecured 9mm semi-automatic pistol in a living room couch. CBS affiliate KHOU identified the boy as Christopher Williams, Jr.
The parents were home at the time, police said. Investigators believe the pistol belonged to the child's father, Christopher Williams, Sr., the station reports. A distraught Williams Sr. was seen being led out of his home in handcuffs, crying and yelling, "He was my son."
"His dad loved him too no doubt," said the boy's aunt Shamanda Williams told the station. "He loved his child."

Accident, or negligence? This same scenario keeps repeating all across the nation, and children keep dying because of easy access to guns.

(35,117 posts)1. Negligence gets these kids killed.
I surmise from the names in the story that the father is African-American. Strangely, he was immediately arrested for it, instead of a Sheriff telling the press that the "family has suffered enough" and no charges would be pursued.
Odd, that.

(14,559 posts)2. This happens over 1000 times a year. Almost 1.5 million children live in houses with a loaded
unsecured gun.
The NRA has brainwashed gun owners into believing that they must have a gun instantly accessible to protect themselves and consistently oppose any safe storage laws.
The NRA is a terrorist organization and now has proven ties to a hostile foreign country. It needs to be fined out of existence.
