Had another exchange with a wanna be debate king.
It's always the same stuff. Once a long time ago I proposed a simple code to cut down on key strokes 'cause all the arguments are the same and never change.
It would go like this:
Gunner; The right of the People . . .
Me; Yeah but well regulated militia . . .
So the Gunner could simply type TR and I could reply RM so we could go to the next argument.
A few years back the popular Gunner talking point to refute data on gun violence as Correlation is not Causation. In logic terms it's the third party fallacy; I go to sleep when it's dark and wake up when it's light so my sleeping causes darkness. The problem with the Gunner application is that in research there is that pesky control group.
The case in point was Stand Your Ground laws and the data that shows an increase in homicides in states that pass SYG laws compared to states without them. States without SYG saw no increase outside the national trend however 74% of states with SYG saw an average increase in homicide and 28% of SYG states showed no decrease even though the promise was a DECREASE in gun violence.
So the gunner argument was because nobody could prove that any one individual homicide was CAUSED by a SYG law there could be no relation between the increase in homicide and the passage of the law ignoring the control group.
So that's where the idea of a simple code fell apart. There's no simple way to say 'Yer fulla shit' in code.
