If you're looking for a tipping point

it happened ten years ago on December 14. It got a huge push on February 14, 2018. Now the daily mass shootings fuel the fire that's growing.
Tipping points are but a beginning. They begin with a push against the momentum of long developing trends. In the ten years since Sandy Hook those families haven't stopped. The got a $73 million judgement against the gun maker Winchester. It went bankrupt fighting them but they didn't quit they continued against the companies that bought Winchester. Those brave souls fought through the tears and agony of their loss and got a $1.4 billion judgement against Alex Jones and his media company.
The Parkland kids aren't kids anymore and they aren't quitting either. Millenniums raised in the age of active shooter drills are now in congress and Gen Z is following them. Just as the age of the gun was the accepted norm the age of reform will become the norm. It will no longer be a surprise when a restriction on guns is passed and the Supreme Court recognizes the 2nd Amendment for what it is: an antiquated artifact borne of slavery and compromise with those who later rose up in rebellion and were defeated.
The NRA, the largest voice for Gundom, is bankrupt. As a force to be reckoned with they are a shadow of their power in the '70s. Membership and income is falling to the point that they are at the point of bankruptcy. The fear that they will be replaced by a more strident force is fading.
The power of the Gun will recede as slowly as it crested but it will recede.
