The line in the sand on those wanting/not wanting is Mike Bloomberg, the Great Equalizer

Talking strictly of guns and the issue of the insanity in the streets of America,
Mike Bloomberg is that dividing line in the sand

Those that are in favor of what the Mayors against Guns are doing
(and it only has to be on this issue, as no other issue is about the SOP of this group forum)
and those that are against.

Mike Bloomberg, who I refer to as the Great Equalizer, is providing the armour to any/all candidates, their protection, for the first time in history of the NRA, to battle the blackmail of the NRA. Actually putting the time and dollars to fully back as needed district by district, working with Joe Biden and the Obama administration for change, as promised.

It's the lightning rod to those that actually want to accomplish something, and to those
that want an excuse to bloviate against him for non-gun issues and a way to distract from getting something done.

The good thing is, historically, there is a long time pattern now, which makes it easy to tell the ones that actually want something changed, and the ones that don't.

Because getting the congress and judges to be able to back and not overturn, is going to take getting new members of congress who are against the NRA and for the end of insanity in the streets of America to write the new laws.
And a brand new US Supreme Court filled with those like Prsident Obama and Joe Biden,
who will NOT overturn any new law, which the NRA and their same old/same old will attempt to do.

MORE people in America want something done, so don't let them use the 2014 meme.
The bloodbath will be the NRA's demise forever.

Orson Scott Card was protested for his anti gay views even though he was hired to write comic books. We cheered it here on DU and correctly so.

Bloomie is a 1%er of the highest order. His actions towards OWS and other high handed imperiousness should also be considered. He is not worthy of the adulation you have lavished on him here on DU in every forum you post in.

You're obviously anti-regulation. Why are you posting in this group?

Make you an offer...you and yours abandon the RKBA group, quit smearing it and its participants, and I will quit posting here.

Note that I do support regulation changes including:

NICS checks or equivalent on all transactions, even private party transaction, inheritance, and gifts. My approach would be a Federal FOID that you would automatically get at 18yo so they are not a "firearms ownership licenses", a common objection to that approach. The check is then if the FOID is still valid for the sale to proceed. This is easy from the IT perspective. Note the NRA rejects the FOID approach.

Limitation of pistol magazines to what fits inside the grip of the gun. Require that new designs not support magazines that extend beneath the handle (BATF already has authority to force design changes). This is readily demonstrated by the Ruger line of .22LR handguns and the Astra 400/600. Grandfather or buy back at retail price non-conforming magazines. This approach also slows down magazine changes. Note that the NRA has rejected magazine limitations

All firearms must be secured when not in use, being cleaned, transported, etc. While California got stupid on parts of this, its the right thing to do. Some will miss their old time glass front display cases or wall rack, but proper security is a must. Would consider an exemption for non-functional devices. I believe the NRA has fought mandatory safes. It adds costs to gun ownership, but this has to be done.

Mandatory reporting of theft or loss. This is a no brainer. A number of pro gun people say they will report theirs missing to avoid registration etc. That should be felony country.

Enforce the existing Federal laws about false paperwork by purchasers. Bloomie and I even agree on this one

There is a Gun Control and RKBA group, notice the key words "Gun Control". That group was never set up as a safe haven for your side.

RKBA is the group for open discussion of gun politics. I have a choice as to whether I continue to post in RKBA, but your anti-regulation posts in this group are in violation of the SOP.

Funny thing is, and i have argued for a place like this one for months and months as you know,
because everytime someone said that gun talk should be out of the GD and into your place, guess who wanted that?

YOUR place wanted it gone. So you could control it, and stop most who refused to enter your place in the first place.

I took it there for about 7 months I think. Till CONN changed everything, and talk was allowed in the GD.

And you guys couldn't control the message anymore.

It's so ironic-
you profess to hate Mike Bloomberg spewing the control word (aka nanny).

When it was clear the first time I mentioned him in YOUR place you guys wee sweating bullets over what he was doing.

And those against the Mayors against Guns are fully on record for months and months now.

Just go to one of my old threads and look at the responses. There is a PUBLIC record of it.
No need to dig hard to find it.

So I have taken you up on your offer. Unless I make a dumb mistake, I will never post in your section again.
And remember 100% of every single post I made there was anti-NRA. Every single one of them.

I have kept my end of the bargain. Why not be polite and do the same here.

Argue the points here, over there or in the GD.
But not here. You already have your own little neck of the woods, there.

and

BLOOMBERG.

I caught a wave and rode it from day one. The magic elixir. The Great Equalizer.

(and go fight other issues elsewhere, those have nothing to do with the SOP)
(note-I never heard the phrase SOP til I went to your place, and was constantly in the early days of my intruding in your area, had threads closed because it did not suit the SOP.

so please, no high and mighty. And no thanks, we don't need the help here.
Feel free on your area to give us advice.

And another thing-
SACRIFICE.
If saving even one life means getting this insanity off of the street in the form of giving up your security blanket and/or hobby, well, remember what JFK said
"ask not what your country can do for you, ask what YOU can do for your country".

If it ultimately means you have to give up your bullets, so be it. you don't need them to live free and to prosper. In fact, on average the people will live alot longer alot freer with the 35 a day who die from senseless guns and bullets.

BTW, a winner does what a loser won't, and we want to win.
