NRA-backed recall of Colorado Democrat shaping up to be a bust.
Sort of like the big hunting boycott that never happened.
Democrats out-polling GOP in Pueblo recall
When the Pueblo Freedom and Rights committee turned in petitions in June with 12,600 voter signatures, the group was pleased that 22 percent of those came from Democrats who were apparently willing to recall fellow-Democratic state Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo.
Not surprisingly, most of the signatures - 51 percent - came from Republicans with the rest from independents.
As the actual recall election goes into its seventh day Sunday, it's Democrats - many of whom are likely Giron supporters - who continue to hold a sizable lead in voting.
Friday morning, Pueblo County election officials said 5,887 Democrats had voted during the week compared with 3,314 Republicans and 2,054 independents.
That gives Democrats nearly a 2-to-1 margin over Republicans.

(421 posts)1. That sounds good on paper,
but how many democrats and independents are voting in favor of the recall?
Typically, don't republicans wait until the last day to vote? Hope I'm wrong.
We'll find out either Tues. night or Wed. morning.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this goes down in flames.

The Republicans always hope for a low voter turnout.

that or, remember Florida 2000?

(53,664 posts)6. Good, but Dems in Morse's District 11 need to get off their butts.
By the end of the day 1,081 Democrats had cast ballots Thursday compared with 1,617 Republicans. Independent or unaffiliated voters had a smaller turnout - 839 - although that is the single largest category of registered voter in the district.
At last count there were 69,481 registered voters in Senate District 11 and of those 26,725 were unaffiliated, 23,344 Democrats, 18,174 Republicans and the rest third-party voters.
