http://www.nationalcathedral.org/worship/HolyWeekEaster2013.shtmlIf you can not attend services or will miss one of them and are near a computer watch the services of th Holy Triduum. Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter services will be webcast live on the site of the national cathedral and if you miss it you can watch it later. They also keep service webcasts from the last decade on their site. Here is the link in their website for that.

The National Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul is the seat of the Episcopal Bishop of Washington DC and the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church both of whom are strong progressive women. The times for the services are listed on the first link on the post. I hope you enjoy the site. Happy Easter!!!

(10,337 posts)It reminds me of DU of many years ago when we could have different ideas but still have a civil conversation.

(71,265 posts)I like civil discussion as well and for the most part I am always treated fairly. Some people get high and mighty at times but if you try and stay calm and down to earth it usually centers the other person here.

(10,337 posts)Good God, the real world just does not function in PC purity. i spent my life in construction. The best job I ever had was populated by every racial group you could imagine. From Armenians to African Americans. We told racial jokes to each other all of the time! We all understood the racist eliment but we all understood the funny too. We all understood that the steriotypical jokes had merit and were still funny but we all also understood that we really liked each other as people and would do anything for each other. Race was not a factor. These people were my friends! Some folks don't get that.

(146,218 posts)That's what I generally do on Christmas as well.
I find the music of religions profoundly moving. One of the most emotional experiences I have had was in Istanbul when I first heard the call to prayers from 5 or 6 different mosques simultaneously.

That site I linked to you can listen to the service later in the day. They load them up pretty quickly after the service and live webcast is done.
Hugs to you

(2,012 posts)I had a dear friend who was a pastoral canon at the Cathedral; with the other pastors there he worked very hard to make the Cathedral a welcoming place for all persons in the area. The "high and the low" were the same there and I felt privileged to worship there and hear the great sacred music. Happy Easter!
