Austin Hatch, the Michigan basketball recruit who has survived two plane crashes that killed members of his immediate family, played his first game for Pasadena Loyola High School on Wednesday night — and promptly made a three-pointer, according to the Los Angeles Times.

His excited coach and teammates rushed the court after the shot early in the fourth quarter, resulting in a technical foul.

"He hit a three, and our bench erupted," Loyola coach Jamal Adams told the Times. "It was unbelievable what that kid has gone through and how hard he's worked. That kid has taught me you can come back from anything, that nothing is impossible. It was a spiritual moment."
