Terrifying typhoon, forgetting our troops, uncensoring Zinn’s history
November 12, 2013 04:30

The US logging industry called out for its potential role in the record-breaking typhoon that devastated the islands of the Philippines. Vietnam vet Mike Marceau talks about the sham of Veteran’s Day and the devastating mental health and dire economic reality facing former soldiers. NYT’s bizarre endorsement of the Trans Pacific Partnership, a multi-nation trade deal that is being negotiated by corporations behind closed doors and kept secret from the public. The top five egregious examples of two-tiered injustice, from Abu Ghraib torture victims being sued by their torturers to fracking victims being sued by the fracking industry. Finally, students in Indiana fighting back against the decision by former Governor and Purdue University President Mitch Daniels’ decision to censor Howard Zinn’s text book, ‘A People’s History of the United States’, which not only backfired, but sparked a larger debate about academic freedom across the state.

This is what I was going to post:

Will Veteran's Day die when the last vet of WW II (the last war we won) passes on?

Is it just me or does the country celebrate the service of WW II vets disproportionally more than our more embarrassing wars?

I wonder how many people know that we had a war in Korea.

But I understand, it would be difficult for the President to climb behind a dumpster to thank a Vietnam vet for his/her service.
