which I found to be slow and boring. But to be fair, I saw it long ago when it first came out, and maybe it deserves a second chance, especially since I did enjoy the book. I do love Meryl Streep quite a lot, but this one is not high on my list of films to re-watch.

I'm not a huge fan of Jeremy Irons either, I find him quite overrated, and none of his movies really jump out at me as being all that great. The one exception being The Mission with Robert De Niro, which is a really great film for so many reasons, though none of which are for Jeremy Irons being in it.

I rewatched it this week as it was on TCM over the weekend for Meryl Streep day. I think she is mesmerizing/breathtaking in it. I’m thinking of reading the book.
