Question for fans of 'Casino Royale' (2006).

There were seemingly so many double and triple-crosses in the film that I kind of lost track after a while. Help me out here:

Bond managed to suss out on his own that Mathis double-crossed him. But how?

Vesper mentioned after her meal with Bond that she needed to see Mathis, and left Bond at the table. How did he figure out that Mathis was crooked?

The term "plot hole" comes to mind.

This probably isn't news, but just because you missed what should have been a clue doesn't necessarily mean it was there to begin with.

Makes me wonder what sort of criteria studios use to assemble their test audiences. You may just happen to be a more discerning moviegoer than most and caught something most overlooked.
