I hope it is cut into at least two movies.

(18,008 posts)You are right about it needed to be longer than a 3 hour movie.
The important thing is not to take the current hot actor for casting. For example I have heard Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho. I think that is a mistake.

(3,178 posts)loved the novels but the first movie was pretty bad, I'll still watch it just because
of the lousy effects, sort of steam punk...but the interpretation and script were not good either.
I thought the mini series was a little better but still lacking, the novel(s) may just be too
abstract and complicated for a decent rendition on the screen. Another I would like to see
along this line would be Asimov's Foundation series...🚀

(20,987 posts)"Dune" is getting to be the Moby Dick of filmmaking.
Has anyone, ever, done a version of it that is less than execrable and wildly divergent from the actual text?

(24,066 posts)I read the books way back in high school. Enjoyed the original one and the one sequel. I though he was milking it after that. I can't see how any movie version would do the book justice. I'll pass.

(6,437 posts)The first film covers the first main story of the first book.
Denis Villeneuve is spot on a strong director to tackle a project like this.
The cast is fantastic as announced so far.
I re-read the first four books every few years, culminating in my favorite with God Emperor. Great stuff.
