New member of the club here.

Just had my 6 month check up and bloodwork and my PCP called to inform me I have diabetes. Said my A1C is 7 and starting me on Metformin tomorrow. So, hi folks, I’m joining by default, and just wanted to introduce myself to the group.

I can believe prediabetes but I find that unusual to be classified as diabetic with an A1C of seven and no medications.

For me it's always up and down as far as my willpower and currently they have me on metformin and Rybulsis.

I tend to do a lot better in the summer when the outdoor activity levels are much higher.
The winter and particularly the holidays really suck trying to keep a handle on it.

my AiC has been as high as 12.5% with a glucose level of 1400 (that put me in the ICU in a diabetic coma). When I finally got out of the hospital my Endocronologist ordered me a CGM (continuous glucose monitor). I now have my diabetes under control with a A1C 6.2%.

I cannot take Metformin because I have stage 3 kidney diease. I take long acting & short acting insulin to control my diabetes.

I am by no means an expert but have lived with diabetes for 14 years.

Whatever the outcome do what the Doctor says & take any diabetic classes your medical community offers.

for 26 years. With CKD I can’t take Metformin. I inject Novolog with meals. Had 12 super lows using Lantus long-acting insulin so got off that bus. A1C over 7. I do the best I can. You will too. Best wishes
