The Rainbow Pride of West Virginia parade was led by a large rainbow banner. The parade went through Haddad Riverfront Park and ended at Capitol Street.
People of all ages and sexual orientations donned rainbow clothing and came together to support each other and celebrate pride at the 18th annual Rainbow Pride of West Virginia parade and festival...
...Parade participants included Miss and Mr. Pride of West Virginia, Macys, PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), the Covenant House, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, the Coalition Against Domestic Violence and other supportive organizations...
...This is a really important issue to the coalition because (it is) connected with violence against women and other oppressions such as heterosexism and racism, Thomas said. I think a lot of folks in West Virginia think that the services arent there for them in a violent relationship, and (we want to) spread awareness to come and seek our services if you need help.
