Appalachian Regional Commission
Legislative Update: Obama Administration Requests $68.2 Million for ARC for FY 2015
March 2014

On March 7, 2014, the Obama administration proposed a federal budget for fiscal year (FY) 2015 that requests $68.2 million for ARC's community and economic development programs. This amount is a reduction of $12.1 million from the Commission's FY 2014 appropriation and is roughly even with ARC's pre-sequester FY 2013 funding. It reflects the administration's continued commitment to building a strong economy in Appalachia while honoring the budget constraints required by the bipartisan budget agreement Congress approved in December 2013.

The proposed budget assumes no major policy or programmatic changes for Commission activities and will continue the administration's interagency focus on strengthening and diversifying the Appalachian economy.

The budget proposal will now go to Congress for its consideration.

ARC's FY 2015 Performance Budget Justification (PDF: 2.7 MB) is available on the ARC Web site.
