Ohio CAT announced a groundbreaking gift of $1 million to the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio.
From their Cadiz location in Harrison County, Ohio CAT shared the news of its investment in FAOs mission of creating opportunities for Appalachian Ohios citizens and communities over the coming five years.
Ohio CAT is heavily invested in and employs over 230 people at its five Appalachian Ohio locations, said Ken Taylor, president of Ohio CAT. We have seen FAOs work to grow philanthropic resources with communities like Perry County first-hand, and we know our $1 million will create permanent and enduring positive change in Appalachian Ohio through the Foundation, he went on to say.
The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio was created to help the Appalachian Ohio region grow the philanthropic resources available for communities and nonprofits. With historically fewer philanthropic assets in Appalachian Ohio, the regions communities have not had the same ability to address challenges and pursue new opportunities as communities in other areas of the state....

A $32,000 donation is slated to help not just Washington and neighboring counties, but will also be of benefit to counties from Clermont up to Ashtabula.
The donation comes from Pioneer Pipe, 2021 Hanna Road, and was given to the Foundation of Appalachian Ohio (FAO) Friday.
"The primary reason we decided to make a commitment to the foundation is this is the community we call home," said Matt Hilverding, chief operating and financial officer at Pioneer Pipe. "We started here when Dave Archer, our owner and founder, started the company here. The people of the region stood behind us, whether it was customers or employees loyal to us in our 33-year history. Our whole beginning, past, (present) and hopefully future are tied here to this region."...
...."There was not a regional community foundation," said Wanczyk. "We serve all the Appalachian counties in Ohio; 32 counties, one-third of the land...Many counties do not have a source of community philanthropy. There was, and is, a philanthropic gap."

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is celebrating the success of its shareholder campaign. FAO raised over $3.4 million dollars through its Leadership One Hundred shareholder campaign, exceeding it's goal of $3.2 million.
FAO serves the 32 Appalachian counties of Ohio, including Athens County. Appalachian Ohio helps fund several non-profits in Athens County, including the Athens Senior Center and Stuart's Opera House.
CEO Cara Brook says the funds will go towards bettering education and arts as well as funding local non-profits in Appalachian Ohio.
To raise the funds, FAO sold "shares" for $32,000 each. Shareholders receive no financial gain from donating, with all profits going back towards helping the region....
